Paul Weber is one of Hollywood’s most respected Casting Directors. As longtime Executive Head of Television Casting and Feature Film Consultant for MGM Studios, Weber effectively moved between both mediums with ease.
For series television, Weber most notably cast the wildly popular STARGATE franchise. Other TV credits include SPARTACUS:GODS OF THE ARENA, SHE SPIES, POLTERGEIST, DEAD LIKE ME, and THE OUTER LIMITS. These series and others have garnered numerous honors including 21 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
For the big screen, Weber has advised on numerous MGM features including the blockbuster JAMES BOND franchise, FAME, ZOOKEEPER with Kevin James, HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, RED DAWN with Chris Hemsworth, Joss Whedon’s CABIN IN THE WOODS , and THE MACHINE starring Vin Diesel. Home entertainment credits include LEGALLY BLONDES, PICTURE THIS with Ashley Tisdale, INTO THE BLUE 2, WARGAMES, the SPECIES franchise, as well as the CUTTING EDGE franchise for ABC Family.
Weber is now a fully independent casting director and producer. In addition to a number of independent features, recent and ongoing credit include projects for STARZ, NETFLIX, A&E, HULU, DISCOVERY NETWORK, COMEDY CENTRAL, LIFETIME, HALLMARK and CW. He is a casting consultant for several Canadian and US production companies, studios and networks, recently completing US casting on PURE for HULU, and the 1/2 hour series, CRAWFORD for COMEDY CENTRAL . BUCKOUT ROAD , which he cast and co produced wrapped principal photography and will be released in 2017. Under his production banner ONE ON THE WAY PRODUCTIONS, Paul and his producing partners are engaged in developing and producing new media and independent feature projects. For over two decades, Weber’s keen eye for talent and ability to cultivate and sustain lasting relationships within the entertainment community has made him one of the most sought-after experts in his field.
As such, Weber is also frequently tapped to lead cold reading audition intensives and scene-study workshops worldwide for performers seeking invaluable practical insight that helps demystify the audition process, giving them a critical edge in an extremely competitive industry.
Weber is a member of the Casting Society of America, the Writers Guild of America, and has served on the Host Committee for the Annual Academy Awards. He is also a respected audition coach and teaches his Art of the Audition, Business of the Art Audition technique class worldwide, including a number of Liberal Arts Colleges and Universities. He was the first American Casting director ever to be invited to teach his workshop in South Africa and Cyprus. He also teaches and lectures extensively throughout Canada, Europe and Australia, recently returning from Warsaw, Poland and Sydney, Australia, where he taught at the renowned Australian Institute of Performing Arts. His American University visits include USC, the University of Texas, Austin, University of Virginia, Loyola Marymount College, University of Conn., University of Arizona, and Sante Fe College, Florida. He is a regular teaching guest at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and an instructor in the Theatre/Film Dept. at UCLA. He appeared on the prestigious SXSW Film Festival panel representing Film Casting Directors and is on the Advisory Board of the Santa Fe Film festival. He is presently working on a book for actors entitled “The Art of the Audition, the Business of the Art.”
